Are the best things REALLY available for FREE?
I’ve often read about how ‘the best things in life are free’ and this statement has held true in almost all the aspects of my life. Take the abundant sunshine I enjoy in this part of the world for example. I now use it to power up all the lighting, geysers and low-power electricals in my house. FREE, but it sure beats the erratic electricity supplies from my local power company whose service would cost me at least $100 per month.
I heard this South African joke about a guy who wanted to dispose of his old fridge after he bought a new one. To avoid offending his poor neighbours with a charity handout, he puts it outside his gate with a sign: TAKE ME FOR FREE! It was there for the next 3-weeks. Surprised at why no one was taking it, he consulted friends at work who advised him to try selling it. So the guy changed the sign to: FOR SALE- R100. The fridge was stolen within the hour!
Moral of the joke: people tend to be suspicious of anything offered for FREE.
Online business owners identify with this.
